Ed, Edd n Eddy

A Load of Ed is an Ed, Edd n Eddy comic. In it, Edd and Eddy take care of an injured Ed. It was published by DC Comics in Cartoon Network Block Party Issue #15, and later re-issued in Cartoon Network All-Stars Omnibus.

The Eds are hanging out in the playground. Edd is sitting under a tree playing solitaire, while Eddy paces around trying to think of a scam. Ed, meanwhile, has climbed a tree. While up in the tree, Ed pretends to be a fireman rescuing a kitten; going so far as to bring a fire extinguisher with him.

Edd expresses concern about Ed's fantasy; pointing out that the contents of a fire extinguisher are under extreme pressure. Ignoring this, Ed proceeds to expel the contents, and is sent airborne. Moments later, Ed collides with a passing plane, and comes crashing down.

A while later, Ed is now in a body cast, resting on his bed. As such, Edd and Eddy come by to keep him company. Upon leaving, Ed wants to go with them to assist in Eddy's latest scam. Sarah interrupts, however, telling Ed that he is supposed to stay in bed. In exchange for not telling their mom, Ed agrees to let her watch his TV.

Carrying Ed around proves to be quite difficult. Seeing a remedy to this problem, the Eds head off to Edd's garage. Using his ingenuity, Edd invents a contraption to make transporting Ed easier. With Ed more mobile, the Eds head off.

As Edd and Eddy wheel Ed down the street, Jonny and Plank emerge from a nearby bush. Jonny then runs up to the Eds saying that Plank wants to be part of the parade. Although this is a misunderstanding, Eddy immediately sees a way to make a profit: charge the kids a fee to participate in the "parade". Without hesitation, Jonny hands over two quarters.

As the "parade" goes further down the street, Rolf can be seen nearby scrubbing a large clam; referred to as his "Ancestral Clam". While passing by, Eddy makes several witty remarks. Finding himself humorous, Eddy bursts out laughing. This, however, causes Edd's contraption to wobble, sending Ed backwards into Jonny. As a result, Jonny is knocked across the street into Rolf's clam.

Upon impact, the clam is flung into the middle of the street. A passing truck driver sees it and immediately applies the brakes. The truck was carrying a load of anvils, and they have now been sent airborne. Unfortunately for the Eds, the anvils land right on top of them, with Kevin as a witness rushing to their aid.

In the final panel, all three Eds are now in body casts, bedridden in Eddy's room. As such, Edd says, "It's going to be a long summer."

  • Goof: Kevin's shirt is colored blue in a panel on the last page.
  • Edd breaks the fourth wall when he says, "We'll also require some nylon rope and a convenient passage of time".
  • Rolf's "Ancestral Clam" bears a strong resemblance to Bobo, as seen in "It Came From Outer Ed".
  • The truck carrying the anvils belongs to "AKA Anvils". This is a reference to the series production studio, A.K.A. Cartoon.
  • This comic also appeared in the Indonesian Cartoon Network Magazine titled, "Ed Kau Berat!".
